Star Wars Armada Imperial Assault Carriers flotilla Expansion pack from Fantasy Flight games

Star wars Armada brings us another release to look at with the  Imperial Assault Carriers Flotilla.  This model is available in Xwing miniatures game also from FFG where it is a huge beast, but dropped to this scale its a tiny little ship.  And in Olivias words.... "Awwww look they are so small and cute!" which i believe is not a look the Empire was going for.

Coordinate your Star Wars Armada fleet with the flotilla of Gozanti-class cruisers from the Imperial Assault Carriers Expansion Pack! With just one die in their left, right, and forward battery armaments, and no dice to fire from their rear arcs, your flotilla of Imperial assault carriers will not intimidate your opponent into surrender, but it more than makes up for its minimal firepower with its Fleet Support upgrades, which allow you to coordinate and support your fleet more effectively than ever!

The Imperial Assault Carriers Expansion Pack contains two Gozanti-class cruiser miniatures, two ship cards, eight upgrades, one rules reference card, and all necessary components.

Again the Flotillas are not going to win in combat agaisnt most things, but they do have their uses in a supporting role, so lets take a look and see what comes inthis pack, and what we can do with it.

inside you get a baggie of tokens and cards, and one for the base and plastic bits.  a component sheet, and the tiny little ships themselves.
As with all FFG games, plenty of nice quality tokens.  You can see she certainly does not kick out much in the way of firepower wing a single dice all around, and only one shield.
With 3 hull and only a single shield you must be careful, as they are fragile.  The ships come in two vairants, the Assualt Cariers, and the cruisers, with the only real difference being the assault carrier has a bit of a longer range punch, whilst the cruisers have a better anti squadron firepower.
General Tagge provides a new admiral option for the Empire.  At the start of the 3rd and 5th rounds he lets each ship recover a defense token, which can be very handy, im not sure he replaces my love of Moff Tarkin, but is nice to have some variety.

Agent Kallus lets you add an extra dice of your choice whilst attackign a unique squadron, its a bit situational, but can be brutal in the right circumstances.

Vector can increae your squadrons speed to 5 if needed, so long as they are not heavy, so useful to get thigns moving along with your TIEs

Comms Net lets you take a token from your ship to assign it to a friendly ship in distance 1-5, very useful as you can store plenty up and then dish them out when needed.

Bomber Command center lets a friendly bomber at distance 1-5 reroll a dice.  This is excellent with the Xwings all having the bomber trait, so can really help to maximise damage potential.

Jamming field can help your squadrons gain obstruction, keeping them alive longer hopefully!

The models one the base are nice with plenty of detail.
They look good as well, and do have engine glow, so would not need paintwork like the fighters do.
Coming in with an RRP of £18.99 this will add a whole new way to think about your battles, and supporting your fleet, and i really enjoy the options they allow me to try out.

Head over here to find your local game store and grab yourself one to add to your fleet.
